Nordwestwinds Weg ins Glück
"In the summer of 2023, we decided that we wanted a foal. Many options were initially on the table: raising one ourselves, buying one from a local breeder... But none of those options gave us a good feeling. Since all the horses already living here had a "story" and we were probably the last option, or the best option for them, we looked for foals from animal welfare organizations.

It took less than half a day until we checked the SWG website that evening. And suddenly, it happened: This picture! The name! Everyone here agreed: This is how it should be.

I wrote a short application via the contact page. Less than 24 hours later, I spoke to someone from the association on the phone for the first time. Shortly afterward, a stable inspector came to our house. You start to worry and fear after only seeing a photo. But it was all very reassuring. The stable inspector came from the neighboring town and has a horse through the association. If I had any further questions, I quickly had at least three contacts who always took the time to address my questions and concerns. The entire process was handled very professionally by the association. We felt well looked after and cared for.

When the contract was signed, the responses from friends and family weren't all positive. Of course, there were concerns that the animal might be sick, develop poorly, be wild, or not survive the transport. But we want to give another little soul a home.

On September 17, 2023, at 4:27 a.m., the moment finally arrived: The large transporter arrived. The day before, the association and transport company had kept us updated on almost every step of the journey. And then, suddenly, the moment arrived, and we were worried, too: How would he behave? How would he be?

But it was simply beautiful! The transporter opened the doors, took my daughter inside, and said, "Go on, you two, to a beautiful life together."

The next day, the breeder himself called and inquired. What can I say: It was almost the most emotional thing I've ever experienced. And all my worries and fears were completely in vain. Except for the fact that his name is Northeast Wind, because the vet made a mistake when writing his passport.
